Do have some musical ideas in your mind with the desire to record it? Do you like to know how to make your own music and make your own composition? Do you feel the fire and creative impulse? Do you like to know what particular music and hits would sound as if you had the band to play your own composition? You can create your own musical production without having to hire any band just to play them. There’re a lot of computer tools that are available nowadays which can really help you out to produce your very own music.

When I had decided to pursue my plans in making my own music, I spent and wasted a lot of money for stuff which I didn’t need. It was a waste of money, time and effort. I did not actually know how to start making my own music, so I spent my money on something which did not fit the purpose. Read on to avoid the same mistake I made before if you’re starting out learning how to make your own music.

How To Make Your Own MusicComputers have a very big part in the digital music production today. With this, you can make use of your own computer to create your own music. Here’s what you will need:

  1. Your computer, either MAC or PC
  2. Audio interface
  3. MIDI interface
  4. MIDI Keyboard
  5. Notation or composition software (optional)
  6. A Recording software
  7. Some Instruments
  8. Microphone
  9. Headphones or speakers

I presume you have your own computer; otherwise it’s unlikely you would be hitting this article. It doesn’t matter whether you have a MAC of PC. There are many available tools with are both compatible to both kind of platform. You can actually make use of your iPad to make your own music.  Either ways will do. You need any audio interface or a soundcard which will let your sounds get into a computer. If you sing through a microphone or record an instrument by a microphone, you will need one audio interface to get your sound from your microphone into your computer.

You also need a MIDI interface to get the MIDI data from your MIDI keyboard into your computer. You cam make use of a separate device which can be connected to your pc, but sometimes it’s included in the soundcard. With this, you’re more likely to give you a MIDI interface and an audio on same device. The MIDI keyboard will let you enter the composition into the computer. Playing notes on the MIDI keyboard will send your note information from the MIDI interface into the computer.

The software needed to produce your music is quiet diverse. Some of the available packages will almost do everything you’ll need while some other software are more specialized. On my part, I utilize dedicated musical notation software for arranging and composing because I’m comfortable on reading music, and I really want to see the music I notated. I am also using another music composing tool which generates the music from chords I enter. I own and I use 2 digital audio workstation (DAW) software programs in order to record my own music.

If you want to play some conventional music instrument, then use them as you make your music but there’re also some software instruments that are available which can electronically generate sounds or utilize sampled sounds taken from the conventional instruments. Most of DAW’s includes the software instruments. You’ll need your microphone in order to record voice and so that you can record the conventional instruments. You might also need a pre amp microphone depending on what type of microphone you’re going to use. Several audio interfaces also include the pre-amps. I am sure you also want to hear the music you created, so you’ll definitely need your speaker or your monitors or a set of headphones.

These are all just the very basic things you need to know if you want to learn how to make your own music. Always remember that you must have the desire, skill and the dedication to produce your own music. Aided with the right tools, making music would no longer difficult as you think it is. Enjoy music making!
